APPROACH

Since completing our training, Stolt-Nielsen has remained a resilient organisation highly capable of driving performance within remote teams. Continuing their growth trajectory throughout the pandemic, their management team and overall culture have increased the organisation’s capacity for quality collaboration - particularly between their long-standing leaders and the new generation of employees who favor a coaching-focused style of leadership.

CONTEXT

Stolt-Nielsen is a leading global corporation providing the transportation and storage of chemicals and liquids. Stolt-Nielsen needed to quickly adapt to new pandemic-required remote ways of working, they engaged my partner Lepaya to assist with virtual leadership development. Under Lepaya’s wing, I was part of the selected facilitation team tasked with executing a far-reaching leadership development and change program spanning APAC, the EU, and North America.

Covering all management with the exception of board members and the C-level suite, I facilitated the intensive multiple module leadership programs for 12 groups up to 14 senior leaders within 2 months. The leadership program focused broadly on culture development, people management, organisational change, and digitisation. More specific focus areas included increasing team engagement, creating a highly engaged culture working digitally and remotely, founded in connectivity and trust, shifting from input to output-driven organisation, intrinsic employee motivation, and effective team collaboration. In the context of the new remote working environment, we also practiced online communication techniques for challenging conversations or feedback, and management approaches utilizing digitally-specific relational and emotional cues.
